“Picture to Burn”- Taylor Swift

That’s right, viewing audience! It’s a Taylor Swift double feature! You’ve seen the sweet, love song-singing side of Taylor. Now it’s time to show you her angry side! Well, at least this is the angriest I’ve seen her. “Picture to Burn” is a song where Taylor is singing about her ex-boyfriend and how much she HATES HIM. Once again, I’m lovin’ how we can relate to these songs! Who hasn’t had a moment where you wanna yell at your stupid ex in the form of a hit song? The song is really upbeat and will get you singing along before you know it. And yet it still keeps that country feel with it, which only helps the song. Personally, I love the music video, where at the beginning Taylor and her friend are spying on her ex and his new girlfriend. It’s a must-watch video and it’s up on the blog already. Enjoy!

“I’d Lie”- Taylor Swift

Just to let you know, I don’t usually venture into the world of country music. Taylor Swift, however, is my exception. She actually made me forget that I was listening to country music. She has a style all her own that I have to say is pretty unique. She also sings the cutest love songs. Of course that’s not all she sings, as you’ll see in my next review. “I’d Lie” basically tells the story of a girl who loves a guy so much that she knows everything about him and a guy who is completely oblivious. I love that she sings about stuff that we can all relate to. It’s a classic Taylor Swift song that still doesn’t lose that country feel. Really catchy lyrics, too. I know that some people just don’t like country (I speak from experience), but this is a really sweet song that you won’t know if you like unless you try. Unfortunately, I don’t have a music video for this one (I’m not sure if there even is one). “Damaged”- Danity Kane

Honestly, I’d never even heard of Danity Kane until I heard “Damaged” on the radio. Again. And again. And again. Yes, this song was a victim of a deadly musical crime: overplaying. So after I heard the song for the 114th time, I HATED IT. Which is sad really, cuz the song’s not even that bad. Since it doesn’t play 10 TIMES A DAY anymore, I’ve decided to give it a chance again. Whether you like this song or not depends on what kind of music you like. If I had to put it into a genre, I would probably be pop cuz this song is definitely…”poppy”. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the song’s repetitive sound: “My heart is damaged, damaged, damaged, damaged. I though that I should let you know that my heart is damaged, damaged…”. Well, you get the idea. That’s just me, though. The video is pretty much made up of the five girls either dancing (pop-styled/hip-hop dancing here as well) or sitting in what I can only describe as what tanning booths will look like in the future. Overall, it’s a good song and it’s pretty popular right now. So why not try it? The video’s up on the blog and ready for watching!

“Cupid Shuffle”- Cupid

So I went to my friend’s sweet sixteen last week and I heard this song being played. I was confused, but my friend ran out onto the dance floor and started doing this dance to it, along with a bunch of ten-year-olds. After watching for a while, I finally caught on and joined in. And that was when I learned the “Cupid Shuffle”. It’s been a week and I’m still doing it! Quite randomly, too. *coughs*…um, anyway, a lot of you probably know how to do the dance, but just in case: you shuffle to the right, shuffle to the left, do some kicks and walk it out to the left for a 90 degree turn. The song gives you kind of a rap song feel, but I think it’s more of a dance-along song. Much like the “Macarena” and “Cha-Cha Slide”. The best part is that you can do the dance in your own style; everyone has a different way of doing it! If you haven’t heard it already, the video is up on DefLuv and is totally worth checking out. If you know it, keep on dancing!

“Hero/Heroine”- Boys Like Girls

You know, because I’m into different kinds of music, I really jumped onto the Boys Like Girls train late. Sad, I know. But I was really hooked when i heard this song- “Hero/Heroine”. Doubtless, any hardcore Boys Like Girls fan knows this song. And don’t rush right through this one; it gets better and better as you keep listening! The slower but still catchy beginning makes its way into a guitar and drum-filled, fast-paced chorus that you WILL NOT FORGET anytime soon. The transition from slightly slower to rockin’ chorus and bridge back to a bit of a slow down at the end of the song is a really good combo. Like the perfect summer smoothie. A little bit of everything! And just when you think it couldn’t get any better, you look at the music video. And I’m talking about the version 2 video of the song. It was the first one I watched and I loved it so I didn’t bother watching the other one. It’s really cute! OK, not the best descriptive word, but the boy-likes-girl feel gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside, and then hyped up feeling you get when the band is shown playing the song. Something for everyone. It’s one of those music videos where i kinda wanted a sequel. I mean I saw them fight, kiss and make up, and I saw the girl with…who? Was it him? Another guy? I have really bad eyesight, I couldn’t tell! Probably him, though…hopefully . Anyway, the song is a total hit and hopefully I’l get the version 2 video up soon!

“Check Yes Juliet”- We the Kings

Ok, so this had to be my first review. No question. We the Kings is my new obsession, their songs just have that certain beat to them that makes every alternative rock fan want to buy their CD right now. But not I, said Priya. Nope, I had to listen to them for a good while before buying anything. Especially since I had my eye on that new Sony camcorder. It’s shiny. Alas, after 2 weeks of burning out my poor, poor Ipod, I found that I was gonna buy all of their songs (exagerration) anyway. “Check Yes Juliet” is among We the Kings’ biggest hits, and for good reason! Great lyrics and a catchy beat (thanks to the very nice vocals and back-up by the instrumentals). The lyrics basically tell the story of a guy trying to get together with the girl he loves, though not everyone approves. If there are people out there still scratching their heads, this is based off of the story of “Romeo & Juliet”, but the modern feel is definitely there. This will be the song of many a lover this summer. And if your not so lucky in that department, the catchy tune will keep your obsessively singing the lyrics. A lot. Seriously, when you’re running, taking a shower, everywhere. At the most random of times, too. Nevertheless, this song is amazing and is definitely worth checking out. The music video is really good, too. It’s also on my playlist. The URL to it is in the first post of this blog.
